Just watched a killer film-noir from 1945; “Mildred Pierce” starring Joan Crawford. Mommie Dearest aside, gurl radiated “haute power-bitch with a heart of gold” with sextroardinary flair.
If these costumery shots don’t make you freak out, I don’t know what will. This was NINETEEN FORTY-FIVE.
There was the “sexy labor” look:
