Still waiting on the end of this stupid bug. Got many writing ideas but cannot sing! Piles of lyrics go unsung. :(
Thought I’d share some randomness in the meantime, since I don’t have work until tomorrow.
1. My sis and I made this killer drink on Memorial Day; we are not big at-home drinkers, but it was SO nice out and the classic rock station was on and we found a 3/4-empty bottle of Grey Goose in the freezer. Score on all levels! Try this, I swear it’s exactly like Marino’s Italian Ices…’member those? Mmmmm and they took like an hour to eat if you scraped them with the wooden spoon.
“SPECIAL” LEMONADE
1 part Grey Goose Citron
2 parts generic brand Diet Lemonade w Splenda
tall glass
mucho ice
top with club soda (we also tried it with Sprite Zero) and stir. Low-cal, does the job, bada bing.
2. I don’t know why, but I keep referencing this skit in conversations with friends and fam…something about it cracks me up. I just love Amy Poehler!
(Note: because of complicated music licensing–which, btw, I am all for–the “I’m No Angel” skit is unavailable to watch on the Internet! Download it for free at the link I left for ya.)
3. I have been procrastinating BIG time on fashion blogs. I’m sort of a wannabe DIY designer — you can find my silly feathered accessories in this old post — and sometime fashion voyeur, so I go crazy over first-person chick-next-door accounts of beautiful homemade threads and impeccably styled outfits.
I read lots and lots of fashion mags, and I feel like in theory I get what universally looks good and what does not. (I always predict the winners of the fashion-design reality shows WAY before the producers/editors start planting well-placed clues, which makes me get cocky! Haha.)
But no matter what fashion info I cram into my cranium, my personal style remains unchanged! “Skin-Tight, Spangly SpinArt” is a good way to describe it.
Anyway, for the past 2 days I’ve been clicking into the endless universe of fashion-blog-mania.
Here are some I’ve come across…I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface.
The Glamourai – LOVE her original jewelry and “costume of the day” feature
Beckerman Bite Plate — these girls are talented designers as well as master thrifters
Style Bubble – adorable UK chick who’s very “whatevs, i just like fashion”
Painfully Hip — excellent place to find eco-friendly and wallet-friendly style ideas
Lesson learned: I should really learn how to shop at vintage stores. Seems like there are way more awesome threads to be found in that world than in my sphere of influence — New Jersey malls.
4. Big hair is IN?!?!?! This is kind of like when they start playing your fave formerly-undiscovered band/artist at the Lacoste store, or when mainstream kids start quoting your favorite weird-ass movie. I do appreciate the fact that frizzy/coarse/kinky hair is getting some love and praise, but I’m also scared that–as with any trend–the look will become cookie-cutter. Crossing my fingers that this prediction by The Daily Beast turns out to be incorrect, for individuality’s sake!
